Rachel meets Thomas (the blue train)!

Sunday, we decided since Grandpa was here that the whole family should go out and do something - weather permitting of course. Luckily, God smiled upon us and allowed us to have a clear day (if you live here - you know that that truly is a miracle). So, we went to the transportation museum in Wasilla. This was the first time that I had been there, as well as Rachel and Matthew's first time.


This place had tons of stuff to read, so if you are a history buff - especially in the transportation industry this place is for you. We looked through all the cars and planes, and Rachel enjoyed every minute of it - especially since she got to run and play in the grass with the big boys. Matthew got to crawl and play too - he sampled their grass and has decided that they need to get more sunlight.



Rachel had a somewhat hilarious bruise from this outing, I say funny because it was funny that she hit her head, but not funny that she hit her head - do you know what I mean. Well - Karen was taking her under a C-47 from the WWII era, and there is about a 2 foot high piece of metal that hangs down from the belly of the plane, and Rachel wanted to touch it so Karen took her over there; and sure enough, she jumps up and hits her head on it - Karen was like, "I thought that it was big enough that she could see it." Rachel was fine - just scared.


The highlight of the day was when we got to ride on a mini-railway next to the museum led by none other than Thomas the train. It was pretty remarkable, but kind of expensive - at $4 a person - but it is quite entertaining and Grandpa Dick even sponsored a section of track.
